Welcome to the UNC Charlotte
LGBTQ+ Staff and Faculty Caucus

The LGBTQ+ Staff and Faculty Caucus does not speak for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The purpose of the LGBTQ+ Staff and Faculty Caucus is to facilitate, influence, and provide guidance for educational, administrative, and personnel policies that affect the welfare of the LGBTQ+ community of UNC Charlotte. One of our key functions is to serve as a support network for LGBTQ+ members of the university community.

Upcoming Events

Join us for OutSpoken on October 14, 5:30-7:30, in Cone 111. You’ll hear from two UNC Charlotte alumni, Abby Mederos and Angel Truesdale, and learn about Charlotte’s queer history, where we are today, and where we are headed. Angel will share information from archival collections and historical documents housed in Atkins Library. Then Abby will talk about her current work with the LGBTQ+ community in Charlotte and what the future could hold. We’ll follow their talks with conversation, pizza, and snacks. This event is open to all of the UNC Charlotte community and we welcome all students, staff, and faculty to attend. 

During this annual event we invite those interested and able to support the LGBTQ+ youth in our community in Charlotte by donating to Time Out Youth. We will collect physical items that will be delivered after the event and monetary donations can be made on the Time Out Youth website. If you are interested, consider bringing any of the following items:

  • Life Essentials: Dove Body Wash and Dove deodorant, Native Body Wash and Native Deodorant, Equate Lotion, Suave Deodorant, Old Spice, any Mouthwash, Vaseline (small and larger jars), White and Black Socks, Boxer Briefs (all sizes), Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner, Curl Cream, CeraVe lotion and face wash, toothbrush/toothpaste
  • Gift Cards: preferably $35+ to Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Amazon/Visa, Uber/Uber Eats, DoorDash, Gas Gift Cards, & Dunkin. 
  • Food Pantry (nonparishable items): soups, cup noodles and ramen, drink options, rice bowls, and tuna are also welcome.

For the fall semester, the Caucus will meet on the following dates over Zoom:

  • August 24, 4-5pm
  • September 28, 4-5pm
  • October 19, 4-5pm
  • November 16, 4-5pm
  • December 14, 4-5pm
